I bid farewell to the Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra after 7 years together. I feel honored to have been a part of this family and such a special project. The BGKO is so much more than the sum of 7 musicians. It is coexistence made music by 7 very different people from diverse cultures, languages, beliefs and value sets united respectfully by one singular passion: music.
From them, I have learned to be a better person and to sing at the service of music and life. Now I say goodbye with courage and so much love. The BGKO continues on, with new people, musicians, expressions, collaborations – always loyal to the magic of the group: a collective that loves music from Eastern Europe and shares it with enormous personality.
I now feel the need to step off this ride because I no longer wish to maintain the same working rhythm. I want to channel my energy into a more tranquil path in order to continue singing and traveling at my own pace and in order to guide other people in connecting with their own voices and share my experience with whomever feels things similarly.
It is not an easy decision, but it is without a doubt the most honest. Therefore, it seems the best to me, for the group and for life itself.
I wish to give infinite thanks to my companions. Each and every one is an incredible person! I also want to thank the audiences that have given so much to me: so much energy and love… Together we have created so many unique moments. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I wish my BGKO family all the best, and who knows? … Reencounters are often magical and spectacular things!!!
