Caminos de voz
Life and voice’s journey
Here I share three of the projects that fill my heart right now. The first one, Ubuntu, is the only actually working. I decided to step back from stages for a while, searching for a more personal path in my life.
I am open to everything that might come and resonates with my moment. I am open to give my voice to new projects that are meant for me.
Acordeonist Mattia Schirosa and I unite as a duo to share a journey in sound that describes our own adventure as musicians and as life partners.
The repertoire we offer describes not only all the places we have discovered together but also the feelings, emotions and learnings that come out of each song, as well as its context.
Ubuntu is a word in Zulu and Swahili that is used, among other things, to invoke the being created thanks to the synergy between two people. When a couple is formed, a third independent element always appears. This is the joining of the two persons that has its own energy, soul and will.
Our hope is to share the richness of our shared musical encounter within our family, among friends and for others. Our music heals our spirit.
This is a very intimate project that allows us to travel freely and as a family.
For seven years (2012-2019) I gave my voice to a marvelous project called the Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra (BGKO). BGKO is a family of seven musicians that share a passion for the music of Eastern Europe and reinterpret it in their own way through the unique creative capacities of each member.
We have shared our music in over 35 countries, and we ourselves come from seven different cultures. We have been able to create a common discourse that speaks to defending the encounter with the other, with the different, in order to overcome fears and judgement.
Each new place, each new culture that we have known has enriched us with new rhythms, new melodies, new friendships, new foods, new ways of living. We are sure that this world will be more loving when we demonstrate curiosity towards others and overcome our fears of the unknown.
After these seven years, I am bidding farewell to the project for a while to dedicate myself to a life that better suits my needs and ways right now. I feel very fortunate, grateful and honored by the love that I have received from my companions and audiences. I have learned to be a better person, someone that is responsible and happy.
I have discovered myself through placing my singing at the service of the music and of life itself. I no longer know any other way to do it.
During the end of my pregnancy and my first year of motherhood I share my voice with this artist that I love so much. She invited me to record an album really special: Oceanes, an ode to all women in all of their sides through the water.
